Rather than imposing a new architectural statement on its coastal setting, the redesign celebrates the tactile qualities of materials, the flow of light, and the subtle relationships between spaces, creating an interior that feels warm, grounded, and timeless.
Warmth is present in every detail, where timber and light define the feel of home. The primary cross-laminated timber structure is exposed throughout, with walls and ceilings left visible to create a calm, grounded, and timeless interior. A floated screed floor complements the natural warmth of timber, reinforcing the relaxed, beach-house character of the spaces.
The main house is organized around a generous family room, which forms the social heart of the interior and connects seamlessly to a conservatory and wellness area. This layout allows the home to function comfortably for two while accommodating large family gatherings without losing intimacy.
Three independent studios replace the former holiday units, each designed to operate autonomously from the main house. This allows every branch of the family to enjoy its own private oasis. Bold splashes of colour within the studios give each space a distinct identity and character, adding subtle energy while preserving the calm, natural palette.
Material choices play a central role in shaping the interior atmosphere.
