Favrholm Campus

Favrholm transforms a historic Danish farm into a contemporary conference centre for Novo Nordisk. Working within strict preservation guidelines, SeARCH reimagined the interiors as a sequence of calm, purposeful spaces for learning, dialogue and wellbeing, where historic structures and a modern program enjoy a close connection to the surrounding landscape.

The design carefully reprograms the existing buildings from the inside out. Former agricultural spaces are reimagined as guest rooms, lounges, fitness facilities and meeting areas, while the central building houses shared interior functions such as the lobby, dining hall and administration. Historic haylofts are converted into generous meeting rooms and informal lounges, retaining their spatial character while accommodating modern use.

New interior spaces are organised as a coherent family rather than a collection of styles. In the new north wing, meeting rooms, lounges and patios are clustered at lake level, creating a strong relationship between interior space and landscape. Each meeting room follows a similar spatial logic and geometry, subtly varied in size, material and openness, allowing diversity without fragmentation. Clear sightlines and level changes help visitors orient themselves at all times in relation to the original farmhouse.

Throughout the project, the interior experience prioritises clarity, comfort and connection to nature. Large openings frame views of the lake and surrounding landscape, while materials and proportions create spaces that feel contemporary yet rooted in the site’s agricultural past.

The result is an interior environment thoughtfully scaled for people, combining intimacy and openness to support focus, collaboration, and reflection — a humane alternative to conventional conference architecture.
